CT-A08 is a rugged 4G GPS asset tracker that runs on three AA Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. We fit them before it ships, so it arrives ready to go, with no wiring and nothing to charge. Screw it, bolt it or cable-tie it to a trailer, a piece of plant, a shipping container, a generator, a bin, a caravan or a boat trailer and leave it there.
It’s built to report infrequently, which is what its battery life assumes: up to 8 years at one location update a day. The more often it reports, the sooner the batteries run down. Updates every 2 minutes on the Power Saver plan run them down far faster, and updates every 10 seconds on the Real-Time plan fastest of all, so choose Power Saver unless you need 10-second updates.
When the batteries run low, you replace them yourself: no charging, no special cells and no sending it back to us. Fit three new AA Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, all at once and never mixed with old cells or another brand. Use lithium AA cells only; don’t use alkaline or rechargeable cells. Then reseal the case: check the seal is clean and lying flat, and tighten the six screws evenly.
The sealed, rugged housing is IP68-rated when sealed correctly (dust-tight and protected against immersion) and impact-rated to IK07, and the tracker works from –30 °C to 60 °C. GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou give positions accurate to about 2 m, with a rough location from the mobile network when it can’t see the sky. A motion sensor detects when the asset moves, and positions recorded out of coverage are sent once it’s back in range. It measures 108 × 86 × 30 mm and weighs 170 g with its batteries.
