CT-A03 Quick Reference: Power, LED Indicators and Working Modes

The CT-A03 is a rechargeable, magnetic-mount 4G asset tracker. This quick reference covers the three things people ask us about most in the first week: how to turn it on and off, what the three status lights mean, and which working mode suits the way you use it. There is nothing to install or configure yourself — working modes are set remotely by our team. It follows the CT-A03 User Guide v1.0.
Power on / off

ℹ️ First fix. For its first GPS fix, place the tracker outdoors or near a window with a clear view of the sky. It can take a few minutes, depending on the surroundings.
⚠️ Keep it at least 20 cm from people. Like any 4G device, the tracker sends radio signals while it’s switched on. Fit it to the asset, not to a person: keep it at least 20 cm (about the length of a 30 cm ruler) from where anyone sits, stands or sleeps, and don’t carry it in a pocket or wear it while it’s on. In a vehicle, mount it away from the seats, for example under the rear parcel shelf.
LED indicators
ℹ️ To stay out of sight and save power, all LEDs switch off about 2–3 minutes after power-on. Dark lights on a running tracker are normal. Short-press the power button at any time to light them up again for a status check.
Green — cellular network (4G)

⚠️ If the green light is solid, the tracker can’t see its SIM — check it is seated properly. If the green light keeps slow-blinking after a few minutes, the tracker is on the network but has not reached the platform — check you are in 4G coverage and that the SIM’s data service is active. If the blue light keeps quick-blinking, move the tracker to open sky so it can get its first fix.
Working modes
The CT-A03 offers three working modes so you can balance real-time visibility against battery life and data usage. The mode is set remotely by our team — you never need to touch the tracker to change it.
Mode 1 — Timed
Network services stay on at all times and the tracker uploads its location at a fixed interval, whether or not it is moving. This is the simplest and most predictable mode, but it has no motion intelligence — expect the highest data usage and a steady battery drain.
Mode 2 — Intelligent (factory default)
The built-in motion sensor detects movement, and the tracker adjusts its positioning and reporting to match. While moving, it reports at a short interval; once parked, it reports at a longer interval or goes quiet altogether. This gives the best balance of tracking detail and battery life, and it is the mode your CT-A03 ships in.
Mode 3 — Power-saving
The tracker sleeps entirely, waking at a scheduled time to report its position once every few hours, then going back to sleep. This delivers the longest battery life, but there is no real-time tracking between reports.
📝 Factory default. Your CT-A03 ships in Intelligent mode, reporting every 20 seconds while moving and staying quiet while parked. It keeps its mobile connection up the whole time, so any change we make reaches it straight away.
Choosing a mode
Each mode trades battery life and data usage against live tracking — how closely you can follow the tracker on the map as it moves. Green is the best result in each column.

Our recommended set-ups
These are the set-ups we suggest most often. Pick the one closest to how your asset is used, or just describe it to us and we’ll choose for you.
Set-up 1 — Live tracking, updates every 10 seconds (Intelligent mode)
Best for: vehicles in daily use — utes, vans, work vehicles, or a car you want to follow closely on the map. The tracker sleeps while parked and wakes as soon as it senses movement, then reports every 10 seconds until the vehicle stops again. That makes it a well-balanced set-up: battery life depends on how much the vehicle moves. For heavily used vehicles battery life will be poor, so we recommend keeping the tracker connected to USB power.
Set-up 2 — Live tracking, updates every 2 minutes (Intelligent mode)
Best for: caravans and trailers that are towed regularly, and equipment that moves between sites. The same behaviour as set-up 1 with a 2-minute gap between updates, so it is a little easier on the battery. We still recommend USB power in a heavily used vehicle, but on battery alone it lasts noticeably longer than set-up 1.
Set-up 3 — Check-in every 6 hours (Power-saving mode)
Best for: anything that mostly sits still and has no power nearby — caravans, boats and trailers in storage, site sheds, generators, machinery and stored equipment. The tracker sleeps between reports and checks in four times a day, which gives by far the longest battery life. You get four position reports a day, not a live trail.
Optional — Sleep fully between updates
With set-up 1 or 2, we can also have the tracker switch off its mobile connection whenever it is parked and asleep (set-up 3 already does this). This gives the best battery life of all but the least control: the tracker can’t receive any changes from us until it next wakes — when it is moved in Intelligent mode, or on its timer in Power-saving mode.
